Experience
Mr. Painter chairs Holland & Hart’s real estate practice group. Mr. Painter’s practice focuses on real estate, construction, banking and finance, corporate, commercial transactions and sustainable business. He also works extensively with real estate brokerage industry issues. His 22â��plus years of practice include significant work in real estate development (with a focus on mixed use development, sustainable building issues, and tax credits), real estate finance and investment, acquisition and entitlements, choice of entity, limited private offerings for real estate projects, real estate lending work including conventional, institutional and conduit financing, and commercial leasing and construction work. Mr. Painter also handles corporate matters including mergers and acquisitions and distribution issues for international product manufacturers. His work in the resorts, lodging and entertainment areas include golf course community development work as well as hotel and restaurant liquor and related licensing.
Mr. Painter has been listed in the 2009 and 2010 editions of Best Lawyers in America and The Legal 500 for Real Estate Law.


Publications and Speaking Engagements
Mr. Painter has been the author of many articles for The Colorado Lawyer, the official publication of the Colorado Bar Association, as well as numerous other publications. Mr. Painter chaired and presented the Colorado Real Estate Symposium, where he continues to be a regular faculty speaker. He is a frequent presenter to industry groups, and at Continuing Legal Education of Colorado and CLE International programs, including recent programs on Mixed Use Development and Sustainable Development issues. In 2008 he prepared the paper Undiscovered Country: A Legal Primer for “Green” Mixed Use Development..
