Polystrand Manufacturing Facility, Douglas County, CO - October 29, 2012
Description: MEP Engineering completed full mechanical, electrical and plumbing design for a three-phase construction of a new plastics manufacturing facility located in the Compark development within Douglas County, Colorado. Polystrand is expanding their Montrose facility to the metro area. The total building square footage is 100,000 and includes a two-story 16,000-sf (8,000 sf per floor) office area with 8,000 sf finished on the main level and 2,000 square feet finished on the upper level. The warehouse is approximately 19,000 sf with a 64,850-sf manufacturing area. The project was designed for the first and second phase's and a portion of the third phase initially as core and shell design, office tenant finish build out and electrical design for the proposed manufacturing equipment. The third phase of the project was contracted directly through the tenant and included design services for the chilled water system and chilled water distribution to the manufacturing equipment as well as cooling systems for the manufacturing area. The office space included both open and closed office space including conference rooms, cafeteria/lunch room, training room, computer rooms with 24/7 cooling and group restrooms. The manufacturing and warehouse space will include some storage, maintenance shop, receiving and delivery area, eight-10 docks with overhead doors and electric and propane storage. The total estimated construction cost is $7 million.
