Texas chain coming to Denver

Conn’s HomePlus, a Texas retail chain that sells electronics, appliances and furniture, is coming to the Front Range.

The first Denver-area store of the chain will be in 42,000 square feet of a former HomeBase store that closed in Arvada about a dozen years ago.

HomeBase was a small chain of home improvement stores that failed in 2001, when it couldn’t compete with bigger rivals Home Depot and Lowe’s.

The building is in the Arvada Market East retail center that NewMark Merrill Mountain States bought in 2010 for $3.35 million.
